Description of the product used in the C3 process:
It is a water-based product (without solvents) intended for coating of cork stoppers. After drying in hot air, it creates a protective net over the surface of the corks.
All its components are authorised for contact with foodstuff (according to F.D.A. and EU regulations).
Results of the C3 process:
Requirements
Result
Sealing
It makes cork even more water-repellent, amplifying its natural sealing properties and therefore reducing soaking and leakage
Microbiological purity
It offers enhanced protection against the attack of microorganisms in the subsequent stages the manufacturing process (printing and treating) and later in the winery (opening of bags).
Visual aspect
It makes the colour of corks more uniform (natural cork, even after washing, does not always have the same colour).
Ease of use
It improves the functionality of the closures during normal bottling processes.
Off flavours
By diminishing soaking, it reduces the portion of cork coming into contact with wine, with a subsequent reduction (or at least slowing down) of substance release from cork into wine.
